The IADC Southern Arabian Peninsula Chapter represents the oil and gas drilling contractors and service companies in the area commonly referred to as the Southern Arabian Peninsula recognized to include the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Qatar, and Yemen.

The SAPC is registered by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry as a Member Association of the Dubai Association Centre, License Number DAC-0009, and all SAPC activities are subject to the provisions of DAC by-law, and to the State laws and regulations of Dubai. UAE.

Membership of the SAPC is open to all drilling contractors, drilling service and supply companies, and producing companies in the area.

The Southern Arabian Peninsula area is home to an increasingly significant presence of the upstream oil and gas community. More and more Companies, large and small, are establishing Regional and Head offices in the area, particularly in the UAE.

Working within the IADC framework for industry collaboration, the SAPC aims to harness the collective capability of the upstream oil and gas community to address common industry issues in the area for the benefit of the SAPC membership and the industry as a whole. The SAPC also aims to be a responsible member of the local communities in its representative area, active in promoting industry links with the local communities, and contributing to local Charities and other good causes.

To achieve its objectives the SAPC hosts regular discussion forums for members (see Meetings) and coordinates members efforts to address industry issues that are important to the Chapter membership (see Work Groups).

Opportunities to exchange ideas and fellowship with other oil and gas professionals is not limited to our discussion forums and work groups, as the Chapter also hosts quarterly membership meetings, an annual golf tournament (Events) and other social functions. Whilst the fun events are aimed at giving something back to our members they also provide opportunities for our members and their guests to help us give something back to the local communities by assisting us to raise funds for our charitable efforts.

As members, and prospective members, your support is critical to the success of our chapter and its programs to take the industry forward.

A message from the chairman

Dear Members,

The IADC-SAPC was formed to provide a forum for its members to Meet, Share and Make a Difference. Traditionally IADC Chapters focus on Drilling Contractor activities but the SAPC has expanded that remit to include a wide range of businesses and industries to the benefit of the Chapter members.

After a very tough and challenging 2020 where we saw the cancellation of our beloved Golf Tournament, we are hopefully seeing some light at the end of the tunnel with the rollout of COVID-19 vaccines around the world. Let’s hope the vaccines are as effective as we are all hoping they will be.

It has taken strong leadership from the Chapter Committee together with the dedicated commitment of volunteer Chapter members to ensure the Chapter activities that continued added value to all members.

While 2021 has started off slowly we are hoping it will build to a crescendo by Q4 when we can see the completion of some of the strategies being proposed.

These strategies have been created to further strengthen the effectiveness of the Chapter and include:

  • Survey to members – so you can tell us what you want and what we need to improve on.
  • HSE Awards – to recognise best practice HSE performance in our region
  • How we can expand the reach of the chapter to ensure all regional members benefit equally.

There is a lot to look forward to in 2021 from new COVID-19 vaccines to unrestricted travel returning. One thing is certain though and that is that 2021 promises to be an exciting time for the Chapter and I look forward to meeting with you all over the course of the year to get your ideas on how to ensure we continue to deliver on your expectations of us.
